My mother and father in law were here for the week, while she was here we celebrated her 60th birthday.

What a fun way to make a quick card.   I really like the way it turned out.  I need to find a solid leaf that is a little smaller so if anyone out there knows of one let me know!

FIRST and foremost I want to thank every single person who has or is serving our country to keep us safe from events like those that happened on 9/11.
For me that day will never be forgotten!
Now, for some 1+1+1
Your challenge if you so chose to accept, is to make a card using three elements
1 BUTTON 1 CHIPBOARD (in any shape size or whatnot) and 1 TAG
Now most of us know elements should come in 3 so this is a pretty good challenge.  
Have fun with this, I chose to use my chipboard as a tag, but You do NOT have to do that. Try to use something from your bin of leftovers!

I have to say sometimes when you think things are really just bad, someone does something so kind it deserves a fantastic hand made card.   My son, was recently diagnosed with Asthma, we do not have health ins for him.   The school nurse at his school, sent a g.c. home to get him inhalers.  I find it amazing that this women who never met us, would go above and beyond to help us.   I made this card for her.

Remember to thank a nurse today, I find them to be amazing  (waving HI, to my favorite Nurse SUE) &  a huge thank you to All the nurses everywhere.  especially My sons school nurse.

Thursday Happy!

Today, I took of Monday & Tuesday, so That I could get my children ready for school.  So, today is my last day of work..whoop whoop, I wish I could have a two day work week every week...LOL

I love doing hot pink and black cards, I love the punk rock images, when the images are so unique and bold, I tend not to over play my embellishments (at least not always)

Hello Hello hello

This card was so easy and fun to make.  I saw on a blog the idea of using su, punch for the sails.  I used some paper to make waves, and mounted it on card stock...easy peasy.  I edged the paper in a white glimmer.  You probably can't see it, but in real life you can ;)

I know I know it's the first day of school, and I'm thinking of Turkey day.  Back to school brings fall, so I guess I am in the mood.

I love coloring direct to stamp, for these type of cards, it's an easy way to get lots of different colors to a stamp. I am not much of a sales women, but SU! markers are perfect for this and they have the best colors.  IMHO!   Copics do not work for direct to rubber stamping.

This set is also from SU, and I really love it.  So much fun!

With Sympathy

One of the hardest cards to make for me is Sympathy cards.  If I know the person who is getting the car to me I can't express in "art" what my sadness is for them.

  When my sister in law, was killed the cards were not as important to me as the thoughts inside of them.

I try to keep them clean and simple and only add items I think will comfort the family.  For example, if there person who passed was a beach person, I tend to make something with that theme.  A gardener would get a lovely flower card.

Today, I'm sad to say that one of our patients from our office passed away, a very young vibrant young man (21) lost his battle to cancer.  He was one of those kids that was just always full of life.  I actually think he lived more in his 21 years than some of us have in our 30+ years.

It was an honor to know him.

I feel a little sick when I think that Christmas is not that far off, less than 4 months away...Excuse me let me wipe my tears.

This card turned out really cool, it lays flat and opens to a box, great for a gift or tags.

For the owh skip, I wanted to show how you can jus use ink and paper to make a nice card.  This card was one we did for our stamp camp.  Not sure whos it was orginally.   I did not create this card!

Hello water color

If you have not played with the water color crayons from SU! I think you really should ask your demo about them, if you don't have a demo I'd be happy to hook you up.

They are a great way to color images or make pretty backgrounds.  This was so simple, scribble the crayons on the water color paper (just like when you were a kid) then use an aqua painter or a paintbrush to blend.  It's a super fun way to make a background.

NOTE: some say stamp first some say stamp last.  if you stamp last make sure your paper is 100% dry or it will be a mess.  I stamp first!

This little guy is so funny, I had to use a mask t get him on the mushroom, I like the way he turned out.  Sorry, I did not edit any of these photos, I'm running out of time LOL

I am just loving these gnome stamps from there she goes clear stamps.  They are so fun!  My mother in law is not a gnome fan, so to torture her a little (hee hee) I made a bunch to send her.  This is the next in line!

C.A.S card for OWH's skip!

What is a skip?  A skip is a small little blog hop full of BIG inspiration.

What is OWH??  What u are gonna ask me that?  to learn more about OWH go HERE!

  When I was asked by the OWH team, to add a CAS card for the skip, I knew I wanted to do a pretty background.  I along with many stampers tend to add layers, and embellishments, and forget to just let it alone, to be simple and we'll to know when to stop.  For this card, I used a new STAMPIN UP! set.  I loved this set the minute I saw it.  I really stamped in some yummy summer colors, added pearls to the centers and that was it, mounted it on a co-ordinating color and done.

 Remember stampers, it's okay to have one layer, it's okay NOT to add a sentiment, sticker, flower etc..etc..  Just go back to the roots of stamping.   Paper & Ink!

Cas-ual Friday!

What do you mean it's Sunday.  I know I know, but hey I found this great little blog called CAS-ual Fridays, and joined in on there challenge for this week.  It was a tic-tac toe, shown here you chose which one u wanted to do, I took the Chipboard,Gem,Emboss row...What do you know this really was a hard one, but I personally love the way it turned out.  Yaa!




I used a tag I got from a pair of jeans, The heart was chipboard, I covered it in glitter then put crystal effects over it to seal it up.  I used a vintage button and some ribbon, I covered the whole thing in glimmer mist (this is a wedding card for my friend, it's not going to owh!)

  Just thought I'd post some thoughts and a little photo here of me and the hubs.  This week i started a diet.  A real change in the way I eat.  I may keep up the photos on that and the struggles.  So, far so good.  I am a tad hungry all the time but it's all good.

I had a nice week, I did not expect it and I'm sure a crappy one will be around the corner (praying I'm wrong again)  Today, I even sat on the beach with the new SU! catalog (that is fabulous)  Went to the shark tournament with a few friends and my little guy.

Happy Thursday.  Thursday is my favorite day of the work week.    Why, because it's my last day of the work week.  Ahhhh Love!

I love Rock n Roll themed stamps, I like the punk edge of having pink hair, love that I can use crazy colors and that somewhere a young girl or guy will get this card the represents them.  (I send them to owh an org that sends home made cards to our heroes and they can send them home)
