Merry Christmas, 2019

Ahhh, Christmas.   I absolutely  love Christmas.  I love the decor, the magic and wonder really every single thing about it I like.  I like the shopping the wrapping the food just all of it.  I hope you had a peace filled day.   I hope you felt the love of Jesus, as we celebrate his birth today.    As much as I love all things Santa, I need to take a minute and thank the one who we truly celebrate today.

Merry Christmas,

Friends of Unity, December blog hop!

This is a BIG month for us here at the friends of Unity blog hop!    Sit back, get a cup of coffee and hop with us.

First before we get to the cards, I'm gonna share this great news, after all I am sure this is what brought you here!

This is our two year anniversary of hopping with friends of unity.  Although I am new I am so happy to be part of this amazing group.   We are not sponsored by unity, but Angela wanted to help us celebrate by offering you TWO HUGE prize packages    Just look at how awesome these prizes are.   Be sure to leave a comment on each blog in the hop for your chance to win.  Also, there are even more chances to win smaller prizes from a lot of us.   IT's Christmas time and we want to thank you for hopping along with us for the last two years! Winner will be announced on Crystals blog on December 14, just in time for Christmas.
Prize #1

Prize #2

Noe my winner from last month is...   Phaline Mills  Thank you for hopping along.  If you can email me at I will message you through facebook and mail your prize out right away.

Now lets get the the projects.   Now, our theme is all is calm.  And of course that make me think of silent night.  Unfortunately I don't have many stamps that would fit this, so I went in a different direction.   Just think of how peaceful your back yard is during a snow storm.  Those quite moments when the snow just falls and for a brief moment everything seems calm and beautiful.   That peace led me to snowmen.  One of my favorite things.

My cards are super simple this month.  I hope to bring you a little more in 2020.  I hope you enjoy the simplicity of these cards.

This card uses Love to my heart, that can be found HERE!  I used a snowflake border die From Simon says stamp.with some My Minds Eye pattern paper.   The bottom is lined with glitter.   I hope Santa brings me a light box for Christmas, I am struggling with natural light this time of year.  Crafter struggles ;)

My second card used Wonderland, I love the altered look to this guy, I use him often.  He can be found HERE!

The cloud die, (which I love) Is from My favorite things, and was purchased at Simon says stamp.

I hope you enjoyed my simple cards, and try using some of the patterned paper I know you have for simple backgrounds.   We should all make 2020 the year we use up some of our hoarded paper. You know who you are.  (looking in the mirror)

I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year, May 2020 be filled with lots of mojo and many crafty days.

If you stumbled here and would like to start at the beginning please Visit CRYSTAL!

Next on the stop is the lovely Alaine!

May your season sparkle!

It's the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas is just around the corner.  I love everything about the holidays.  I love all the excitement.  My kids are older now but my youngest is like me and gets really festive.

For this card, I used a winter styled Angie girl called.   Winter girl, you can find her here and shes on sale.   I used a sentiment strip from taylored expression.  If you have not had a chance to check them out, you should.   The large strip does 18 sentiments the smaller one does 10.  There perfect.  I popped it up and added a snowflake to jazz it up.   The whole thing is sprayed with shimmer spray for added sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by,

Dawn

Copic used. Coat, BG72, boots are E33 and just good ole R29 for the red

Friends of Unity, November blog hop. Give Thanks

Welcome to the Friends of Unity blog hop, If your new here welcome I hope you enjoy.  If you've been here before thank you for coming back to visit.

This month our theme is Giving Thanks.   Fitting for this month when we reflect on what we are Thankful for.

I have a few projects to share.  So, lets get to it.

The first two cards are very simple,  I cased this layout from my fellow hopper Alaine.   I am thankful for her and her cards.   I love Angie girls, I like to try to keep them whole because  they have lots of itty bitty bits around them.  This layout works well keeping the image full  and also allows you to use pattern paper.  I use this layout all the time.   It makes it really easy.  For the second card  I used November girl,  you can find her HERE! be sure to look at the line of Angie girls, and add to your wish list.  Unitys brown Thursday sale will be here very soon.   The word Gratitude is from the set Frondescence and the link for that is below.   For this first card I used Emerson girl, shes great for fall and winter cards.  You can find her HERE!

This next card is also very simple.   I wanted to show how you can make the sentiment shine.   For this one I used Frondescence you can find it HERE!  I colored the bottom half with copics then added a gina marie design die, to kinda frame the whole image.  I used the sentiment from Array of fall.   and you can find that one HERE!  I sprayed the whole thing with distress mica spray at the end.   added a few sequins.  I also distressed the edges of the frame and sentiment.    It's an easy way to add texture.

I hate long blog posts, so I am not gonna bore you to much longer, bare with me here.   I just want to say if your here and have not yet checked out the Unity facebook group called Unity show n tell, I suggest you do.   I have not been that connected to a group since the old two peas in a bucket.  The group is kind and friendly and there are many levels of talent there. So, go take a peek around share and enjoy,

I want to thank you for stopping by I am glad your here.  Don't forget to leave a comment as some girls do giveaways.  This month I am giving away one ITTY  BITTY.  Just a tiny gesture of thanks to you my readers.   I will announce my winner at next months hop.

Gina K wreath builder and Unity stamps

I'll admit it, I am a huge fan of red rubber, I am not a huge fan of Clear stamps.  I have them I buy them I use them, but I don't feel like you get the same impression as you do with red rubber.  And all red rubber is not created equal.  I truly love Unitys red rubber.  I have stamps I like from other companies that are red rubber but they are really not the same.  There is something about good quality red rubber.

That being said, when Gina K, (who's products I love) teamed up with Unity for some wreath builder supplies, I jumped on board.  I really feel like These stamps can lend really well to masculine cards as seen below, this also works well for fall.   I really like the color combo of this.  I used distress oxides for the ink.  I am looking into getting some new ink and I'm leaning towards GIna K's line of inks.

I used this set HERE, for the sentiments.  It is perfect for this card.  You can find the wreath builder HERE I used tim holtz paper for the matt.  those papers are muted colors and work really well for Masculine cards or when you want darker colors.

Friends of Unity, October Blog hop!

Welcome to Octobers Friends of Unity Blog hop, This months theme is Change.  I had to really think on this one.   It was a hard theme for me.  I hope you enjoy what I came up with.

Before we get started  my WINNER, of the itty bitty stamp from UNITY, is  MEG CRAWFORD , Please email me ladybryson@hotmail.com to claim your prize within the month.   Please put Unity PRIZE in the subject line so I don't loose ya in all my junk mail.

HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY, I HOPE YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET CRAFTY TODAY.

Okay, now onto these projects.

I am a huge Tim Holtz fan,  I dug into my altered creative side to come up with this one.  I hope you like it as much as I do.  Sometimes it's hard to believe we create from just plain paper.

For this card I used the steel ruled die, Tattered leaves Item #656972 and cut from canson water color paper.  I embossed it with the wood grain 3D folder, I then colored it with  three distress oxide sprays.  I wound up using Mustard seed, Candied apple red and Mowed lawn.  I'll be honest at first it was looking like the Italian flag, be patient when using the sprays, and spritz a little water to get things moving.   I colored the UNITY girls sweater and hair with ZIG markers, and distress marker for the skin.  For the final project is sprayed with distress mica spray.  I love that stuff and use it a lot,   The edges are distressed with espresso distress ink and so is the sentiment.   I added a few enamel dots from Gina Marie designs.  and there you have it.

For the Unity girl, I used the kit  She never says never  that you can find HERE.She is really large, and the sentiments that come with her are amazing.   The sentiment is from a smaller kit called  Bravely Change, you can find it HERE!

Here  is a close up so you can see a little better.  I hope you like it.

Now, onto my next project,  This technique was NOT my idea I found it at the AMAZING Stacys, blog.  You kind can find her blog about this technique  HERE!.  She designs for Tim Holtz.

When Making cards, Don't be afraid to incorporate altered designs or techniques to cute cards, This crazy background was super fun and super easy.  I used Cuddlebug Count Found HERE, with some of Tims new bats from sizzix.   Super quick super easy.

You may be wondering what change has to do with this card, I was grasping here, and HE wants to change you into a Vampire ;)  Hey, I tried LOL

I hope you enjoyed my projects this month, give me a follow and leave a comment, so I know you were here!

Have an amazing day, you can find us in the Unity show n tell group on facebook, it's a fantastic group.  We are not sponsored, Unity approved though!

Fall is here!

Unity, has release a line of papers, this paper is from the coffee lovers pack.  It's nice paper I was able to ink the edges with distress ink, but it didn't take splatters well, it has  a slight sheen to it.  It's a real nice weight, not to heavy but not flimsy at all.  You can find this paper HERE!  I used fall to go to create this simple card.   you can find it HERE!  I used a scrap from a project you'll see this coming Saturday at the friends of unity hop.   Be sure to check back for that.

The sentiment shows up better in real life, my room is very bright today, so taking a picture I almost had to much light. LOL

I simply colored with copics, and added some sequins from craft medley, it's the box of chocolate sequins that are really great.

have a great day!

Fall Prayer card!

This stamp set was calling my name for a while. It's of course from Unity and you can get it here.   It comes with two flowers and five bible Vs.  it's a great set to have, I was not sure I can handle the coloring of it until I really started to use water color.  I really like water color on flowers.

For this card I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi water colors.  Amazon has them for a good price.  I got the set of 40 and they are very very pigmented.   I added sparkle and sequins to give some shimmer.  I am one of those girls who loves shimmer on a card.

I used  Cadmium orange NO.33 and Cadmium Red No. #30 and for the splash of teal I used Malachite NO.#50

Here is a closer view to show you the sparkle.

Does not really do it justice.

Hope you have been enjoying the blog lately, I've been trying to be more active.  If you here again, thanks for the support and stopping by.

Have a blessed day!

WHO LOVES UNITY?

I really should be a spokesperson for Untiy.  I pretty much use them 90% of the time.   Fun fact I came up with the term UNIE.  That is what we call  ourselves over on the show n tell page.   If your on facebook please join us there.   IT's a fantastic group of women.  I've met some great friends there and even had the pleasure to met one in real life. ( Waving hi to Crystal)

This card is again super simple to put together.  Get out those pattern papers and use them.   I used the owl cuddle bug that you can find HERE!  The sentiment is from Taylored expression.  IT's the new sentiment strip with the die They are super easy to use.  I colored the sentiment with distress ink to match the colors I used.   The owl is colored with copics I used E33, E35 and E37 .   I then took a piece of an old sock (from a sock that was my sons when he was little, i'll never throw it out...LOL)  I dipped that in the blending solution and dabbed it on the image.  It is an old school effect but I like it still gives some great texture.

Thanks for stoppin by,

Cupcake Birthday wishes!

I love large stamps that fill up a card.  Unity is great for that.   A lot of the images are large like this one.    I used Cupcake day for this card.  it can be found here.  I foiled the bottom layer using deco foil. (it's not showing up well on here and I already mailed it.  Oopps)  I wanted to make it look like the foil wrapper so many cupcakes have.   I colored it with copics.   I added some fall themed pattern paper and that was about it.  Pretty simple easy card.

Falling for fall!

This stamp is of course UNITY, and can be found HERE! It comes with some really large sentiments.     I wasn't sure what color to do the flower and then I threw out the norm and decided to go with teal.  may not be found in nature but heck yes on a card. LOL  I colored this with zig markers.   The pattern paper is from my stash.  Wish I had more of that background it goes great with fall themes. if you know of a paper that has a burlap texture let me know please in the comments.

Friends of Unity, September blog hop!

Oh, how I love some fall cards, I just love the fun fall colors.   I'm about ready to say goodbye to summer.  Although I enjoy being warm and not cold.   I'll miss you shorts and t shirts.  Waving bye sadly!

So, if your new  here WELCOME, My name is Dawn,  and I love to make cards.  I hope you stop back or give me follow.  I don't post much so I won't bug you to much!

Today I have two cards for you.   One with a bit of a mixed media touch and one that IMHO, is just adorable.  .  We are not sponsored!  Just a group of women who happen to love UNITY!

This first card was with the new cuddlebug Racoon.  You can purchase it here!  Don't forget to watch for sales.  Unity has sales most every weekend.   I colored him with distress ink Added him to a piece of pattern paper!  Simple card.  Can easily be recreated.   Use up some of that stash of paper you have.  God, knows we all have a ton of it!

My second card is using the sentiment kit There is no reason.  You can purchase it here!    What I did for this card was stamp the image onto water color cardstock.   I used again distress inks to color to get the center darker I just rubbed the ink pad onto the image.  It gave that cool darker center that i wanted.   I added a pop of orange and some teal for a fun fall look.   For the back ground I sprayed some distress oxide spray onto a kraft panel.   I spritz with water to wake it up.  And then spritz with bronze distress spray.  You cant really see that in the picture but it's' there.   I popped up the flowers (i think they look like big mums)   added a sentiment which I distressed with distress ink so it wasn't so stark white.   Easy elements easy card.  Don't forget to play with what you have.  Get out some of those sprays and make a simple background.  Have fun!

Thank you for visiting me today!   Hop along and comment for a chance to win a prize.  I'll be giving away one  Itty bitty!  For your chance to win please leave a comment.  I'll announce the winner here at next months hop!

The stamps I used today are  from brutus monroe (they may be retired)

I colored with copics, the background is with distress ink.  I use a bat from Tims new bat die.  It's got some really good sized ones.

I love fall most of all!

Fall is right around the corner, and with it comes all the beautiful leaves.  I live in the woods and the colors that are around my home can be really great.  I tried to capture the changing colors on this leaf stamp from NEAT AND TANGLED.  I purchased this from Simon Says Stamp HERE  But it is currently out of stock.  You can get notified when it's back in stock.  SSS is good about that.

For this card I used a piece of white cardstock for the base, I inked the edges with distress ink to match the orange on the sentiment and in the leaf.   I then gold embossed the leaves in gold from brutus monroe.   I did the colored leaf in black embossing. (when water coloring the embossed lines help keep the colors where you want them).   I did this on canson water color paper.   I then took three colors of distress ink and smooshed them on my glass mat ( I absolutely love my glass matt, thanks SUE love you)  then I added it in three sections, and added a little green to random spots like a leaf would have.   Easy peasy.  For the sentiment I inked it and sprayed with water to get the color moving.    This is a great technique for this type of card.

Little Turtle!

This card was inspired by one of the Unity design team members.  (Bobbi Sue McConathy from two38creations)When I saw her card I knew I needed to do one like it so I ran an ordered this die from Simon  says stamp, it's' not expensive.    The stamp was a FREE stamp from Unity.  You can buy it here.   It is on sale from 5.99  you can't beat that 6 bucks... you need this little bugger!  So for the card I used distress oxide for the back ground.  added the cute little die cut. and done.  super fast super simple super fun!  The sentiment on the front is from Taylored Expression.   It's a really cool concept.  It's one large stamp with a die that cuts multiple sentiments at once.  You can find it here!

with sympathy

Sympathy cards for most card makers are difficult.  Especially if you knew the person.  I find them so hard.  Unfortunately  I have had to make several recently.    I used a sentiment kit from unity.  I really like this one makes it really easy to create with since the image is so large and fills a lot of the space.  I watercolored with zigs

.   I used gold paint to swipe some on the background.  The embossing powder is brutus monroe.

Stranger Things!

I am a huge stranger things fan.  I love all three seasons.   This last one was fantastic.  If you have not checked it out. I suggest you give it a try.  Espessialy if you grew up in the 80's.

This card was for my niece.  It was a ton of fun to create.  I used distress oxides for the background.  I took a stamped image of barb and wrapped her in a netted ribbon from stampin up.   I then spritzed with white pigment spray.   The sentiment is from Tim new halloween release.  It was perfect for this card.

succulents

This card was a lot of fun, a very good friend of mines dad has cancer.  I wanted to encourage him and his wife.   I didn't want anything to girlie, guy cards are hard.  I think this one turned out great.  I'm not real good with shadows, but tried really hard to create some in this one.  What do you think?

I share a lot more on instagram.   Im going to try to keep up with the blog so, look for me here and on instagram.  ladybryson!
