A Christmas Carol in 3D!

Well I am sorry I have no card to share, my creative time has been well non existant.  I plan to get some stuff done really soon.

In the meantime I want to keep my blog going, so I'll do a movie review!

Disneys a Christmas Carol in 3D was very good, The images seemed to be very dimentional and I really enjoyed that.  I did get a little motion sick a few times and did jump a few times.  I saw this with my 9 year old son and my parents (thanks nana and grampy for bringing us to the movies)

I can honestly say that if your child is a bit scared of boogies and spookies then this may not be the movie for them.  I think the message was loud and clear and I also think Chist was in a way shown.  You'll have to judge that for yourself.

Hope you get a chance to check it out in 3D, very worth it!

HAPPY BLOG HOPPING OWH !!!!!

Hello hoppers.....I am so glad you've stopped bye to say hi. If your here and wondering what I'm talking about go here and check out the beginning of the hop HERE!

I am here today to tell you I am so happy to be a small part of OWH, I met Sandy, a few years ago on 2pp's and quickly became her friend. She has so much passion for our heroes, that if we all had a tiny bit of that our world would be much better.

I do the cards here and there, I don't do hundreds, sometimes I don't do 10, but you know what it's not about how many you send it's about the heart you put into them. I know that if one card makes a wife, child, mother feel connected to their hero, well I've done my part. Won't you please take part in this mission to keep our heroes connected to their families?

Both my cards today are images used from Phindy, she's a brand new digi artist. She's also your next stop on the hop, you won't want to miss her blog she's giving away a free digi image for the hoppers. Thanks phindy, for supporting our heroes!

Well, that wraps it up I guess...YOUR NEXT STOP IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping in!

I emailed Elsie, to ask if I could use her 10 things I love Sunday, I see a lot of her friends do this, and I really enjoy her posts, so untill I have permission to copy her 10 things I thought I'd post a few things I think are so cute.

I really want to learn to knit, I think I'm asking or hinting for a GC, for Christmas to a local knit store. I want to make cute bows and scarves, and hats and ...and...

I also really love VW bugs, anyone that knows me in real life knows that one day I will get one. I have even looked now that my kids are growing, but I think I'll have to wait a while longer...sigh.

So, what things do you love, what do you want to learn?

Happy Sunday!

ALTERNATE DESTINATION

Hey everyone,

Well, I think it's time to update my friends, family and aquantinces with what's going on in my life.

From the time my husband was in high school he prayed for a place to use for music ministry. SOmething he could use to witness to the people of our generation and beyond.

Well, in the summer someone approaced him about taking over the local teen/ community center. He meet with a few friend and one of them (Matt) said he'd love to do it with him. August 1, they re-opened Alternate Destination. With Jon & Matt's passion for the underground hard core scene, it quickly became a place full of little punk kids (lol) and when we had a concert we could pack in about 100 kids, and this place is just small, tiny!

Our mission is to provide a safe alternative place for our communites youth and young people, we want something that is not only "cool" but that is anti drugs and alcohol, in our county that seems to be all there is to do in the winter, the summer we have the beach etc...but, where are they to go and just hang? We have video games, music, and just a cool place to hang, once we had that all figured out..... Well, our luck would have it that someone in the complex was not liking all these punk kids around, so we got kicked out....

GOD IS GOOD. Two days later we were in talks with a local man, who has a complex here close to our home. After a meeting with him, he offered us this 2,000 sq foot property. After a week of prayer we signed the contract and now are the owners of this propery (well we rent it) We have support from a local church, the rent is 100 more than they help us with, so hopefully thru more support we will make this up easily.

As most of you know, I am still searching for my place in the world. God, knows me I'm just really struggling.

We need help, we need support and we neeeeed PRAYER. A local family (the otters) came and prayed and annointed our buliding today, we'll satan attacked and I had awful nightmares. WE neeeed GOds protection. If you can help us here is our prayer needs and physical needs.

1. for GOD to use us, as witness to our community.
2. for GOD, to keep us safe from trials that we can't handle.
3. we need to know how to keep our family together and run a ministry!
4. protection for MATT, KRYSTAL (his girlfriend) JOn, Myself and our children 5. MONEY...

WE NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS BADLY! (prayer for these items badly needed)

ART for the walls (I'm so not letting the place be all boys...lol)

paint plaster, someone to help with some sanding, and fixing of the walls.

counters/ glass display case
file cabnet

help with the stage supplies for it, and equipment (we were allready given a 20 chanels sound board...woo hooo)

couch, table, chairs

coffee machine, nacho cheese machine, toaster oven, pretzel machine

we have been given three LARGE screen tv's, so we may invest in wi-fi and cable at some point.

We really need donations, if anyone would like to not only pray for the provisions we need. You can make donations to us, in the form of well anything, and giftcards to any of these places in our area are helpfull

lowes, homedepot, office max, staples, walmart

We also have to get a refrigerator, the old owner wanted it back, I believe the church is getting one for us, but I'd love to see GOD, provide one first so that they are not running short. Thank you for praying, taking the time to read my requests. Please forward this to anyone in our community that may help us. and anyone you know of that may pray. if you know of bands that may want to play once were open send them our way!

If you would like to make a donation leave me a comment with a way to contact you.

we are TAX EXEMPT, so you can claim any donations, and I can get you that info!

Thanks for letting me bring this to my blog, and I hope that your able to at least pray!

Thanks,

Dawn (jon, matt & krystal too)

Hi all,

Here is a fun card I did with a sketch (#27) from unscripted sketches, it's not the most creative, but it worked. The image is from Heather Ellis, she has an etsy shop, you can find it here.

I colored with copics, and added some ribbon, and some bubbles. on her hat i used liquid applique'
Have a great day!

So, where are the wild things?

My youngest son & I went to see where the wild things are, on Saturday, I think we both enjoyed it, a little more for it's artistic style then story line. Of course those of you who thought it would be like the book...come on the book had what 20 words..LOL
I think Mr.Jones, did a fantastic job, I loved the camera angle and the "old" look to the film. The Henson clan did a fantastic job on the wild things. I loved bob & Terri so much.
I also loved the costume, the clothes and well, just loved it all. I'll be honest, I did not think his story line was going to go into the direction it did, but I was able to use some of the characters to teach my son about bad behavior and how it effects others. SO, that is a major plus.
I really hope you watch this movie, in it's self and not judge it from the book. It's fresh, and fun and makes you want to smile. I need the sound track now too, it was fantabulous!

in the words of Max, "let the wild rumpus begin"

Miss You!

Howdy gang,
Today is another card from PHINDYSPLACE, I really enjoy her images. So, this image was printed and I noticed the lines were softer then some of her images, perfect for grey and light colors, so I went with it. I really think this is my fav image so far, there is something about it's softness that I really adore.
I used copics to color, and for the miss you I used a mushroom color, instead of black, and it looks really nice IRL. I used su paper, and the miss you is from amuse. I hope you take a min to go visit her shop. She has some neat images.

Happy Sunday!

Hi all,
I have a great card to share today, well I really like the way it turned out. I used another digistamp from PHINDYSPLACE. I really am enjoying her work. Please go visit her shop on etsy and buy a stamp, they are only about 3 bucks, and she could use the love!
I had a nice sat yesterday, My son & I went to see where the wild things are. I'll give my review on my next blog post.
I used su papers, colored with copics, now I have to tell you I do NOT like this animal, and it's because well, a few years ago, they would freak out if I walked outside my house, I mean like I seriously had to have my husband walk me to my van. They would jump up and down wag thier fluffy tails and ummm squeak, yes yelp squeak and charge at me. My husband thought it was so funny, I did not.
It was hard to color this little bugger, but healing in a way...ROFL!

Better get better!

Do you ever get an idea in your head and when it comes out the way you wanted you want to show everyone you know. Well, this was one of those cards for me. I was looking at the new cats pajama stamps, and when I saw this set, I had to have it. I really HAD too, serious..LOL
I was at my buddy Sue's house (she a su demo and has about 90,000 stamps) and I saw that she had the chicken wire background, so I borrowed it. (more like stamp napped it) and here is what I came up with. do you like??
I colored the image with copics, and added some thick rope to the side, thought that gave it a farm feel..LOL
Hope you like it as much as I liked making it. (I've been sick all week, so this card is for me to keep..LOL)

New digi store!!

Hey all, ****the link is now fixed***

Today is MY birthday, wow I can't believe I am ___ years old. Where did the time go???
I have to work today, but I may get a cake so that will make it worth while...LOL
I hope your having a great day. I had some really nice comments from my facebook friends about my stamping. I do know that my stamping is for me and not to be judged by the world thanks for that reminder!
I found this cute little shop on etsy called PHINDY PLACE, go check her out and buy an image or two!
I did this card with one of her images, it's not hard to use digi stamps, you really need to heat set them on both sides of the paper if you are using copic markers.
I plan to buy another one and work with her images again, they are really fun. If you like pigs you will lover her site she has some really cool ones!

Long time no post!

Hey bloggers,

I know I've been MIA. You know I think as card makers we sometimes get lost in the envy mode. What I mean by that is, we'll no one comments, my counter is not going up, and look I can't get published.

I know my Nana, has gone through this lately, and I think for me not getting in to the OWH book, I just got really down.

I am not giving up, I love this hobby way to much. I love the smell of ink, the feel of paper and the stickiness of glue..LOL

This is my card I made for the book, it did not make it, I assume she never responded, And that really ticks me off. At least take a sec to say hey, sorry it's not what I wanted. Oh, well live and learn.

I also tried out for MO's design team and did not make it. Oh well, at least I tried.

This card I really love, the flower is with this really cool techie thing my friend showed me, you take your image after it's been embossed and spritz it with water a lot so it's laying on the paper, then you take your ink refills dab a brush into them and lightly dip it onto the paper it kinda just sits on the paper and when it dries you get this fab mix of colors etc. Love it! The background was done with castaway ink, I had not played with it for a while, and forgot how fun it is.

I have a few great cards to share, and some other neat news. So stay tuned for more!

My take on Toms shoes!

Well, I said I post about Toms shoes once I got them, so here it goes.
I can say that I love them, now that I got a pair that fit. They say to order true to size, but I wound up going up a half size, they feel a little tight at first because they are canvas, but once you wear them a day your fine.
They have a nice sole, and arch support ( a surprise to me, i did not think they would) They feel like I don't know like a pair I'll wear everyday. I don't think they are winter shoes, they are on the thin size, and I'm not sure you would wear them with socks.
Here is what mine look like!

Happy Halloween!

This is my first digi image. I love it so much, it's from MO, go check her out on the digital pencil, it's so worth it. I've seen her books around her her work is really great.
Now, I'm a copic girl and I did have a bit of trouble at first, so what I did was, set to low ink, and then I heat set front and back several times, so that did work for me, don't be surprised if you get a little ink smear, just keep working at it.
Papers are from recollections, and colored with copics!

Do you wonder what soot stamping is? I did, and now that I know what it is I think I'll do it more than twice. I saw a video on Gina K TV. She showed a simple way to use up some glossy paper.
This is my try of it, I did not catch anything on fire!

Supplies, Candle, glossy paper, card stock, thick lined stamp, sticker, flower and a button!

Last day of august???

Yes, I am asking the question. Could it possibly be the last day of August. I just can't believe it. School starts in one week, labor day is in one week, the end of the summer is in one week. That is not enough time to finish my summer projects.LOL
I Don't usually like summer, but I must say this summer I've enjoyed the pool with my youngest and we had a lot of fun. The public pool closes on the 5th, I hope the weather is wonderful so we can spend the day there.
I guess I'm in the mood for owl's, my youngest son got a new build a beat at the mall, they had a super deal, one "bear" one outfit and one pair of shoes for 30 bucks, since my middle son spent 30 on a hat, I thought what the heck let him get a Bear. Well, and owl it's the cutest darn thing., He named him owen moon. So, this is a card in honor of our new family member. Here is a pic of the card and Owen!

Welcome to your next stop on the CFH Blog hop!!!

Hey all,
Welcome to my blog, I am a big fan of Cards for Heroes, and I'll tell you it's a honor to be a part of the card makers that support them and our troops.

I first started sending about 2 years ago, if that and I don't send 1,000's of cards but I do my part. I am happy to say that this weekend I'll be making Christmas cards with my mom for CFH. I can't wait. (I can wait for Christmas tho, I'm not ready for summer to be over)
This little card I made in a class with Heather Meeson from A muse. She's a great teacher, don't you love the simple design of this card?
Don't forget Christmas cards MUST be in by NOVEMBER 1, so get those Christmas stamps dusted off and rolling.

Have a great day and don't forget if it's 5 cards or 5 hundred they all help!
To start at the beginning of the hop please go HERE!

A green way to make a card!

I love the earth, I love how God, created such a fantastic place for us. I also enjoy doing my best to take care of it. I know as a paper crafter it's hard to not use paper and buy embellishments, but when I bought a bar of organic soap the other day I knew that the package would go on my next card. I used the raffia, and the fabric from the bar for this card. The stamp is from A muse, I love the way it turned out, and because it was wrapped in yummy smelling soap the card smells yummy too! LOL

Enjoy your day, I'm so glad it's Friday!

Sugar Nellie In the house!

Hey all,

This is another set of stamps that I think are just so stinkin' cute and fun to color. You can view the Sugar Nellies HERE!! Now, if you know me I like to add a little punk to some of my things, when the mood strikes. I happen to have been rak'd these images and this punk boy was one of the first I colored. I put silver glitter all over his guitar and tried to give him boy clothes, and I added a little blue to his bangs...Cool huh.
The other image, I also love and I used more of that paper from yesterday! Enjoy your Tuesday!
